Your Summer Bucket List for Soul Enrichment

You can enrich your spiritual life by trying some relaxing physical activities. Have more fun this summer after scheduling weekly plans that engage your mind, body and soul. You’ll feel nourished and restored by trying and adopting new hobbies.

Forest bathing

Forest bathing is the practice of spending time in a forest environment. You can immerse yourself in a forest by taking a slow, relaxing walk. Be sure to take in the surrounding sights, sounds and smells. Any local walking path with trees will allow you to reflect while forest bathing.

Stargazing

You could also gain a new perspective by looking at the stars. Lie down on a soft blanket and watch them twinkle late at night. As you trace constellations, you may feel a stronger connection with your existence by remembering our planet's small size compared to the rest of the galaxy.

Horse riding

Animals soothe the soul. They’re a constant source of positivity, especially when you’re doing something together. Horse riding is another way to connect with your soul. As your horse runs across open fields and trails, you’ll experience freedom and have enough fun to release the tension holding back your self-growth. Fostering a bond with nature and animals can also decrease your anxiety, which may help you feel more present. Improving your spiritual connection to the earth is easier when you’re in the moment. Anxiety is a distraction, but horse riding can break through that mental block.

Beach meditation

Meditation sessions may feel challenging in spaces where your mind wanders. Fill your senses with soothing sounds by meditating on the beach this summer. The crashing waves and warm winds engage the senses, which is crucial for grounding your mind and soul. As you take deep breaths, you may focus your thoughts more easily. Use the opportunity to hone your spiritual intentions. When it’s time to return home, you could feel more firmly rooted in your body. Anything challenging your soul will become easier to conquer as you reassess your physical and spiritual capabilities.

Outdoor yoga classes

Combine a soul-boosting yoga practice with your summer bucket list by joining outdoor classes. They often happen during sunrise or sunset to avoid the hottest parts of the day. See if local studios provide one of the 10 types of yoga classes, like Vinyasa or Kundalini. You only need to bring a mat to start your outdoor yoga journey. Listen to the birds, feel the sunshine on your skin and use your senses to stay present for greater soul enrichment during your sessions. Remember to apply SPF before your classes.

Paddleboarding

You can also engage with nature by getting out on the water. Take a paddleboard class to learn how to balance on the board and move across calm waterways. You’ll engage your muscles while taking in some of nature’s most beautiful sights. Once you practise enough to feel comfortable, you could do private spiritual meditations as you paddle on lakes or bays.

Volunteering

Donating your time can do more than build your CV. Volunteering is an excellent way to feel spiritually connected with your community. Only 16% of adults in the UK volunteered between 2023 and 2024, so local organisations likely need your help. You can help people find their next family pet, or distribute food to those in need. If you have expert professional skills, many organisational leaders want people with marketing, IT or other career experiences to mentor others. As long as you’re giving back to your community in a fulfilling way, you’ll strengthen your spiritual life by affirming your purpose.

Morning walks

Introduce more gentle nature therapy to your routine by taking morning walks in the summer. You’ll avoid the afternoon heat and enjoy slowly waking up with the world. Take in your surroundings while everything is quiet. You could also listen to a meditation video or podcast. Slower cardio is still a physical activity. You may find soul searching easier if you’re not pushing your body too hard. Take the daily opportunity to think about your spiritual growth, what you want to experience and how you can reach those goals. You’ll feel more centred when you get home, which might be exactly what you need for greater spiritual enrichment.
Ground your soul with summer activities
Create a summer bucket list that’s good for your spirituality. All you need is a few physical activities that increase your heart rate, but don’t make you feel too exhausted. Yoga, walking, paddleboarding and horseback riding are just a few excellent opportunities to ground your senses and reflect on the steps necessary for spiritual growth. Try different adventures to see which resonates with your soul the most.
