With all the news and information circulating in the world, it would be hard to deny we are undergoing one of the biggest changes of consciousness that humanity has ever seen. This change has been prophesied throughout time through various sources. Each one iterates that we are shifting out of the Piscean age and into the age of Aquarius. This shift has picked up speed since 2021, as ecosystems and planetary systems evolve along with us. We, as a collective, are in a very dark night of the soul.
During this challenging time, it’s essential to know how to stay anchored and rooted so that you are not buffeted about in waves of upheaval. It is particularly important for those who would deem themselves as sensitives to be anchored into deeper self-awareness, so they can be the light they came here to be. It may seem that things are getting worse, yet this clearing process is making way for new creations to come in. And we, as a collective, have the power to do this as a beautiful unfolding or as a painful death.
We live in a world that tells us as sensitive beings not to feel. This causes many to disembody and disassociate from their true state of being. To recreate our new reality, we have to be in the body. Therefore, sensitive beings are probably going to feel the impact of these shifts a whole lot more. Self-care is a must as the volume of the dissolving becomes more intense. Highly sensitive beings have a very important role to play, so it’s imperative to learn to put your oxygen masks on first.
In herds of antelope, there is always a skittish one, the one so sensitive that it alerts the rest of the herd of danger ahead. We are the ‘feelers’ of the collective field and are here to break free from the limitations of numbness. We are here to shake loose the grip of smallness. And as the veils lift, we are being asked to open like flowers, to be the rose. To be the reflections of love during these turbulent times. Here is a brief excerpt from my book,
Digging for Mother’s Bones:
Now is the time for your evolutionary remembrance, for you to move beyond the life you have been living. Let the priestess, warrior, shaman, witch, mother, lover, oracle, seer, creator inside of you come to the forefront so that you can walk in the world as your true self and relinquish the slow death you have been living. The magic that lives inside you is waiting to be met… like the dissolution of the caterpillar whose own immune system attacks itself as its own encoded DNA is set into motion precipitating its demise so it may re-emerge as a new form. We too are in the activation of new emergence. One that is deeply encoded within… We are awakening our collective memory etched in our cells.
In these times we have to be rooted in the truth of who we are. We need a community around us that has similar or the same values. We are not meant to do this alone. By knowing what your sensual signature is, you are more able to attract like-minded people as you send out the frequency signal of who we are. You become the synergistic resonant sound that calls others to you so that they too can remember why they are here.
The dark night of the collective soul
This next phase of our evolutionary human journey is about the old dying and the new being ushered in. We are remembering we have the power to create this new reality. Many of us have forgotten the purpose of this great unravelling. The dark night of the soul is the catalyst that elevates us in consciousness and moves us from spiritual adolescence into spiritual adulthood. It is ushering us into our shadow selves to excavate the full nature and potential of our souls.
Each of us is being called to examine and shed the outdated identities that have held us captive. It is assisting us to shift into a more elevated state of existence, where love is at the centre of all things. It is guiding us to honour our hearts and tap into our actualising potential.
Like the tension created as the archer pulls back the bowstring, we are being pulled taut in preparation for this next evolutionary leap. We have created a world built on what we ‘should’ do, rather than what we need. We have created a world of imbalanced, top-down, bottom-heavy structures which lacked sustainability or harmony. We have let fear, fantasy and felony become prioritised over faith. We have centred lack and limitation instead of love. We held greed and self-gratification as a standard instead of generosity. All structures that held power over others, and not for the greater good, are now coming to an end. We are bringing forward the forgotten language of the heart.
The dark night shows us where we have become deficient in our vital life force. It shows us where we have operated out of ego rather than from the soul. Life is meant to be full of abundance and joy. We did not come here just to do the same old thing – we came here to evolve and live in peace, not in suffering.
We are the living technology of life. We get to choose the way forwards, and we have many tools at hand to assist us to do just that. It may be tai chi, yoga, dance, meditation, hands-on healing, or any number of other practices. We must utilise these techniques to regulate our energy as we switch tracks. Our embodiment practices are going to be essential for this next phase of growth so we can stay with and in our bodies, and not be buffed about by the incoming waves.
Whether these waves are political, social, cultural, sexual or historical, emotional hooks can pull us off-centre. As I say in my book, ‘Emotions are energy in motion. Ask yourself, “Can I stand in my own essence during these stormy times? Do I know what my own essence is without the stories of those around me?” We are conditioned from a young age not to be centred in our own knowing; we get taught to follow the rules around us. And in doing so slowly lose the ability to steer our lives from the inside out’.
We are being asked to reorientate, to be the calm in the chaos. This is how we change the world around us: we become the thing we seek. We change the world by taking radical responsibility for the part we have in creating the world around us.
The dark night of the soul is a liminal space, full of yin and feminine flow. It asks us to trust our navigational skills in the dark as we learn to shed that which no longer serves the collective. It asks us to open our intuitive knowledge as we radically shift our collective identity. It can feel painfully disorientating, and can ignite fearful reactions. This is a test of faith, surrender and purification that will forever change you.
The soul of the world has come knocking, and is allowing us to dialogue with the deeper mysteries of life and come home to our true nature. We are being cracked open to reveal more of our radiant truth. We have to be willing to step into the unknown and work with the cycles of life. The dark night of the soul invites us to listen to the call of our hearts.
What within you is calling to be heard? What is calling to be loved back into being? As we move through the dark towards brighter days, we remember we can see in the dark, and have governance over our lives and being.
Exercise: Sensing into the body
It is through the sensuous world of the body – through the eyes, ears, skin, muscles and organs – that we see, feel and respond to life. Our instinctual and sensory responses help us discover the ever-changing energetic field around us. When we move out of the head and into the sensory world of the body, we awaken into a slower, deeper landscape beneath the surface of everyday awareness – a landscape of feeling, memory, impulse and dreams.
- Whilst lying down or sitting in a semi-reclined position, place one hand on your lower abdomen and one on your heart.
- Bring awareness to your breath and to the area of the body your hands are placed on. With each breath, take your awareness deeper inwards. Do this for five to 10 minutes.
- Bring awareness to any rising emotion or sensation. Does a tightness take place, or a sense of heaviness arise? Where does it stem from? Can you attribute it to an internal organ? Does it have a message to tell you?
- Note what you feel, and continue this as a daily practice to become more aware of the state of your being.
Exercise: Your sensual signature
It’s essential to know who you are so you can be true to yourself. A simple and fun way to feel the core essence of yourself is through the lens of your senses. Know how you feel, sound, taste, look and touch. For example, my current sensual signature is this:
Feels like: Soft moss underfoot wet with morning dew, deep breath after a lingering kiss
Smells like: Ylang Ylang, deep mossy earth, an electrical storm, freshly laid snow
Sounds like: A call from the wild banshee, drum beats, a mother’s heartbeat from the womb
Looks like: The alluring light of the sun as it rises at dawn, wild women dancing barefoot
Tastes like: Sweet manuka honey mixed with cayenne pepper, ripe dripping pears, sea salt
Have a go – can you get into your sensual body and feel your signature flow?
