Survival Kit for life No.9: How to Survive Living with Negative People

In this series I share ways to manage your energy levels and to cope with the negativity you can face day to day from those you work and live with and to rise above the heavy vibes created by irritating and demanding people that can lower your quality of life.

Clearing and stabilise your energy field
The challenges you face in your daily life can easily destabilise and throw you off balance. You also have to contend with other people’s energies at whatever level they are and some of these energies will inevitably stick to you and come home with you at the end of the day. Here are some ways you can keep yourself stable, balanced and clear of other people’s detritus!

Ground Yourself in the morning
Before you face the world ground yourself – connect your energies to the Earth. This will make you strong and secure and better able to cope with any overwhelming situations or people you have to face in your daily life and give you a feeling of security before you step out. There are several ways you can do this and I have created Youtubes to help you – a simple one is to imagine that you are a large tree, like an oak, and visualise (if you cannot visualise then tell yourself) that your roots are growing deep into the ground, through rocks and streams, down through crystal beds and deep into the very heart of the earth. You are strong and you are stable, grounded and secure. Nurturing earth energies are now coming up to you through your roots and filling your body and your aura with fresh, uplifting and cleansing energy. Breath in deeply four times and feel how stable your feet are to the ground. You are now ready to face the day!

Refresh and take an aura detox in the evening
At the end of a heavy day change your clothes and have a refreshing shower. Use shower gels made from citrus fruits – lime is particularly effective and so is lemon. If you are feeling very depleted or overwhelmed by negativity then rub yourself down with Epsom Salts or unprocessed sea salt. There are many Dead Sea products on the market and they are good for detoxing your energy field. A short walk by the sea or in nature of any kind will have immediate effect as the sea and plants will absorb some of the negativity that has attached itself to you.

Bring back the Balance
When you work too hard and play too little or when you give much and allow little back then you will fall out of balance and then (if like me) you may fall over! I broke my ankle last year because of imbalance in my life – it’s not unusual to be brought to a halt either physically, mentally or emotionally when this occurs. As one who has learnt the lesson (hopefully) that we need up time and down time and give and take in our lives I can recommend that you focus on keeping your life in balance. When it’s a matter of choice rather than the force of circumstances outside of your control, do try to put up boundaries and when you get out of balance recognise this and step into remedial action. This symbol will help to bring your energy into balance – left and right, female and male. Draw the symbol and then draw a line in the air from above your head down to the ground and say, “I am fully aligned and in balance, now, right now” and repeat two more times.

 Essential Oils that cleanse and stabilise
Essential oils are useful to burn, in massage oils or in the bath. Peppermint, juniper and sage are just three which will help you clear and refresh your auric field.

Make part of your intention to come back to balance by including a therapy into your lifestyle. If your budget doesn’t run to expensive spa treatments why not share a bottle of massage oil and massage with a friend. Just the soothing motion of being swept with gentle hands and a good oil will have an immediate effect. Here are some of the therapies that are particularly effective for calming, releasing and clearing your energy.

 A meditation that cleans your energy field
In this meditation visualise a vortex of light like a mini tornado travelling down your body clearing and transforming the energy as it sweeps all negativity and attachments down into the Earth where it will be transformed.

Drop your shoulders and relax. Let your muscles go soft. Imagine above your head you see a spinning spiral of white light, like a mini tornado, drifting down onto the top of your head. As it spins it takes away all your worries and cares and negativity. It drops down now around your head, spinning away headaches, pressure and negative thoughts the negativity of others that has become attached to you. It continues to spin and clear. Now it moves down across your shoulders. Your entire body is now surrounded by this spinning vortex of white light taking away your cares, concerns and worries. Your body starts to feel lighter as it moves further down the centre of your being. See yourself in the centre of a clearing light. It spins further and further down your body. The tip now reaches the earth beneath your feet and it spins down and away all that is negative in your whole being. You see it disappears into the earth beneath your feet and all darkness turns into white light. You feel cleansed and cleared of all negativity and are now totally positive and light.

So remember to allow space in your life so that you can regenerate and clear the stresses and strains of your daily life, no matter how little time you give yourself it will be precious and important in your overall health and wellbeing.
